KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A US Airways plane veered off a runway at Kansas City International Airport early Wednesday morning during a maintenance run and ended up in the grass. The two Republic Airline crew members on board were not injured and there was no damage to the plane. No passengers were on board at the time of the accident.
“It was just a mishap,” said Joe McBride, “the crew was doing a high speed taxi and the plane veered off the runway.”
The flight was to be USAirways 3408 with a Washington D.C. destination, but that flight has since been canceled and passengers were rebooked.
The plane is awaiting recovery, McBride later said via Twitter. It may take a few hours.
