OCEAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. — One man is in the hospital and another in jail after a drunk driving accident.
Police said they received a call about an erratic driver who appeared to be operating a car with a man lying on the hood. Turns out the man on the hood was 61-year-old Kenneth C. Moeller and he was the victim of an accident.
Officer Kyle Flatt described the incident to PIX 11, saying that Moeller’s body was “halfway through the vehicle’s windshield.” Flatt said the driver of the vehicle, identified as 33-year-old Marcos A. Ortega, had driven with Moeller’s body impaled in his windshield for at least half a mile.
Officer Flatt arrested Ortega after he failed a field sobriety test at the scene. Ortega now faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and causing serious bodily injury while under the influence of alcohol.
Moeller suffered serious injuries and was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he is said to be in critical condition.
