KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A Kansas City, Kansas teacher was caught off guard and frightened when she found someone inside her home. Police and federal agents tracked down a wanted suspect in the woman’s attic.
The woman says she was at home when an ex-neighbor suddenly stormed inside her house.
“It happened so fast and at the time, I was trying to ask him and he’s freaking out,” said homeowner Toni Lockheart. “Police started telling him to come out of the house!”
Investigators say 32-year-old Troy Mozingo was on the run from KCK Police and ATF agents. He didn’t come out of Lockheart’s home immediately. She’d opened her garage and her ex-neighbor raced inside and hopped inside her linen closet. He then jumped through a tiny hole into her attic.
She says police moved in with their guns drawn and Mozingo crawled to her neighbor’s attic only to find federal agents and police waiting on him.
“He was frantic,” she said. “He said ‘I need your help. Do you have an attic?'”
Mozingo has been booked in the Wyandotte County jail 13 times over the last ten years. He is now back in jail charged with attempted possession of cocaine.
