KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Police are investigating after a body was found inside of a freezer at a Kansas City, Kan., residence on Sunday.
Shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, Kansas City, Kan., police we dispatched to a home located at 1837 New Jersey on Sunday. On Monday, the Wyandotte County coroners office confirmed human remains were found in a freezer inside a detached garage behind the home. An autopsy to determine a cause of death has been delayed until the body has thawed.
Police have confirmed very little at this time, however FOX 4’s Tess Koppelman said police had been gathered around the garage area near the back portion of the home for the majority of the day on Sunday. Early reports called the nature of the death “gruesome” and indicated the remains may have been body parts.
Police said the neighborhood where the body was found is typically not a high-crime area.
“This is, well, this is a nice, nice area of KCK so can’t, can’t say whether we’ve had issues in this neighborhood or not, not a common place,” said a KCK police officer.
On Sunday a neighbor of the residence told FOX 4 he had seen a man and a woman possibly arguing outside the home two days earlier. This case remains under investigation. Police have not released a victim’s name or an additional information at this time.
