Police investigate after woman accosts neighbors

OLATHE, Kan. – A woman was in the custody of police Sunday night after she verbally threatened several of her neighbors.

Olathe Police Department officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 500 block of E. Park Street, just after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Police said a 59-year-old woman had not been taking her mental health medications and had been making incoherent statements to those around her.

When officers arrived on the scene, witnesses said the woman had slapped a male resident of the complex and had also been making several verbal threats toward others. At, first police said the woman would not open her door, but instead verbally responded to them from inside of her apartment.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers made contact with the woman and then took her into custody. She was transported to an area hospital and then given a mental health evaluation.
