The shooting happened a short time after 3 p.m. and Eden is reporting that a young girl and another man were in the residence at the time the shots were fired. That man was reportedly in the upstairs area of the home when he heard multiple gunshots, his mom said he heard shots followed by cries for help.

“My son didn’t know anything, he was upstairs watching TV in the bed. He said he just heard some gunshots, he ran downstairs and his friend was screaming, ‘Help! Help!’ He didn’t see anybody,” Cherrie Kemp said.

Kemp has two sons, one who is a high school student in Blue Springs and another who has graduated, she did not specify which one of her sons was in the home at the time. She also said she’s the young girl’s grandmother. She strongly rebuked what happened on Monday afternoon.

“Whoever it is, they’re totally wrong and I feel like they totally invaded my privacy, my home,” she said. “I hope they come forward because it hurts bad for me that his friend is shot.”

Blue Springs police have not released any details on possible suspects, but we are still gathering information and will provide updates as more details are confirmed.
