Police nab napping burglar

LADY LAKE, Fla. — Police didn’t have to go very far to find a man wanted in connection to a home burglary only because he was asleep on the homeowner’s couch.

Domonique Pinkard was allegedly asleep when the homeowner walked into the living room to finding the resting bandit inside his Florida home.

It appears Pinkard, along with a 20-year-old burglary buddy, kicked in the home’s back door in the morning. Pinkard told WESH-TV he had been “working hard all day” and needed to sit down — and ended up falling asleep.

While Pinkard napped, Julian Evangelist allegedly made off with a TV inside the home.

Police later said they found $500 worth of the homeowner’s jewelry in Pinkard’s pockets and more stolen goods inside Evangelist’s home.

Both men were jailed on charges of burglary and grand theft.
