Police still confronting issue of teens on Plaza past curfew, starting fights

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police had to break up a fight among juveniles at J.C. Nichols Park near the Country Club Plaza Saturday night; a well-known issue that city leaders have tried to address with a curfew.

Officers cited 20 juveniles for violating curfew. Kansas City, Mo. police chief Darryl Forte said officers did not confiscate any weapons.

The video in the player above was taken after 10:00 p.m. Saturday, about an hour after curfew. The 9 p.m. curfew includes five entertainment districts: The Plaza, Westport, 18th & Vine Jazz District, Zona Rosa and downtown entertainment area.

Teens 17-years old and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The 9 p.m. curfew is in effect from the Friday before Memorial Day through the last Sunday in September.
