Police work to keep officer-involved shootings low

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department is working to keep officer-involved shootings as low as possible, but sometimes the situation can’t be avoided.

The most recent case was in January when a man stopped his car on I-435 near Front Street during a police chase and fired at officers, forcing them to shoot back and kill him. Officer-involved shootings are most likely to happen during armed suspect and shots fired calls.
