KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Public School District wants parents and students around Northeast High School to be on alert after a couple of reported attempted abductions. A district official says at least two students walking near the school reported that someone tried to abduct them.
The district claims there have been three incidents near Northeast High School since Friday that have administrators concerned.
Although district leaders tell FOX 4 News there have been two and possibly three suspicious incidents, Kansas City police provided information about one that they are investigating.
A sergeant at the East Patrol station told FOX 4 News that a teenaged girl was confronted by a robber near the school. The hoodlum demanded the girl hand over her cellphone. When the girl initially refused, the bad guy may have tried to hold her against her will before running away. Because the victim of this street robbery is a juvenile, police say they may have categorized it as an attempted abduction.
Kansas City Public Schools Communications Director Andre Riley told FOX 4 News the district is concerned enough about what’s been reported to them to make parents, students and the public aware to be on the lookout anything suspicious near the school.
