Raytown police identify man found dead in street from gun shot wound

RAYTOWN, Mo. — Police are investigating after a man was found laying in the street unconscious around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the man was located in the area of 69th and Hunter in Raytown.

Shortly after police arrived they determined the man, later identified as Patterson “P.J.” Jennings, 33, of Raytown, was dead. Police said his death is suspicious.

“He’s a good kid. He was raised quite well, but when they leave home, he’s over 30 so, I don’t know what happened. A lot of people have ideas. I’m not going to try to say anything about that because I don’t know,” said Sonny Jennings, the victim’s father.

Police said the results of Jennings’ autopsy show that he died from a gunshot wound. There are currently no suspects in custody at this time. Police are asking anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816.474.TIPS.
