OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A woman got a rude awakening on Friday morning after discovering what she thought was her children making commotion in the kitchen was actually a complete stranger. Affiliate KFOR reports that a woman named Kelly found the perpetrator, Michelle Stephens, in her kitchen eating milk and cookies.

“Somebody was standing there with that door open. Then I said, ‘Who are you and what are you doing in my kitchen?’ She said, ‘My name’s Michelle and I’m just having cookies and milk,’” Kelly said.

Stephens told Kelly that she had been beaten up and had come into the home simply to eat the milk and cookies. Police said they believed that Stephens had entered the home through a kitchen window on an outdoor patio. As if the incident wasn’t shocking enough, Stephens was also missing a crucial item of clothing.

“Her pants were right outside the window. I guess she couldn’t get up that high to get in to get the cookies,” Kelly said.

Stephens wasn’t telling the whole truth when she divulged why she was in the kitchen. Kelly said that Stephens had also taken pesto and pepper jack cheese from the refrigerator and had allegedly found some cash and jewels in some kitchen drawers she had gone through.

Kelly said she did her best to stay calm and alerted her husband to get his gun. By the time he had, Stephens had fled the home, but her freedom was short-lived. Police caught up with her shortly after and took her into custody. She faces first-degree burglary and petty larceny charges.
