New Rides Ready for Water Park Season at Schlitterbahn

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Schlitterbahn Waterpark is finally ready to open. The park is currently accepting online seasonal employment applications for the 2012 season which starts on May 26th.

A 3,000 foot Rapids River highlights the expansion. The ride will last about 20 minutes. In addition, three new water slides and a boogie board surf ride will add to a growing list of attractions that continue to make tourists return to western Wyandotte County.

“It’s just been a tremendous draw. a lot of people don’t realize that about 82 percent of people who come to KC are really here for that kind of experience, a leisure getaway,” said Rick Hughes. That’s a big part of the market for us. So ,it’s very encouraging when we see that kind of expansion.”

Schlitterbahn’s Tranportainment River System enables visitors to float in tubes from ride to ride throughout the park without ever leaving the water. Ozimek says this expansion is not the end of the development for the park. There are still plans to add lodging and retail shops to the water park.

The Kansas City, Kansas, waterpark is looking for over 600 seasonal employees to fill open positions which include food and beverage personnel, lifeguards, cashiers, retail assistants, maintenance workers, landscaping crew and more.

Potential staff members should be at least 16 years of age and able to work throughout the summer months, including weekends and evenings.

Those interested in job opportunities are encouraged to apply online in the Jobs section at Schlitterbahn.com starting Monday, March 5. Online applications may also be submitted in person Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Staff Services office at 1709 North 98th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66111.
