KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Myeisha Turner and her three-year-old daughter, Damiah White, were found dead in their home at 55th and Wabash on August 23rd. Since then their killer has been on the loose, so law enforcement joined the victims’ family in a search for answers on Tuesday.
It was a sweltering summer day, but still, feet pounded the pavement, and every door was knocked upon. Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, along with the Kansas City No Violence Alliance, is begging for answers leading to a case against the person who killed Turner and White.
“I’m asking anyone who knows anything- step up!” said Peters-Baker.
They said, especially in a case this cruel, the community needs to be reminded of the importance of bringing killers to justice.
“This three-year-old child, she’s a member of all of our community. She’s part of us. She was taken from us,” Peters-Baker said.
Dr. Anthony Clark is Myeisha’s grandfather and Damiah’s great grandfather.
“It’s not going to be an overnight recovery, but we are recovering,” Dr. Clark said.
Dr. Clark said he doesn’t want to get revenge, but he wants justice. He’s asking for help and he’s asking for an end to all violence.
“We’re standing up. We are Americans. We’re all in this together. It could have been any one of us,” Dr. Clark said.
To remind people of the young life cut short, a park shelter boasts a fresh coat of paint: pink. It was Damiah’s favorite color.
“Enough is enough. Let’s band together in love and let’s do something about this,” said Dr. Clark.
There will be a rally on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 at Blue Hills Park, which is near the scene of the crime.
It will hopefully encourage people to come forward with any information in this double homicide.
