KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A second person has been charged in a case of child abuse that rocked the metro in June. Marcus Benson has been charged with two counts of 1st Degree Endangering Welfare of Child.
Benson is the boyfriend of Jacole Prince who is also charged with First Degree Assault and Child Endangerment. Police went to Prince’s home near 13th & Highland in Kansas City on June 22 after someone left a tip through the child abuse hotline.

Prince’s 10-year old daughter weighed only 32 pounds when she was found inside a closet. Records from Jackson County show the girl weighed just 26 pounds when she was four years old in 2006. At that time, the child was taken away from her mother, Jacole Prince, until Prince could prove she was meeting state requirements in caring for her daughter.
Prince remains in jail and will appear in Jackson County Court on Thursday, July 12. Benson’s bond has been set at $100,000.
