Left-Lane Driving Could Cost You

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Keep right, pass left. That’s the thought behind Missouri State Senator Dan Brown’s new proposal.

He said he’s noticed more people driving in the left lane than usual, so he’s introduced a bill that would make driving in the left lane cost motorists — and cost them big.

Currently, drivers can be ticketed up to $300 and up to 15 days in jail for cruising in the left lane. Under Senate Bill 517, Brown wants to increase the fine to $1,500.

If the bill passes, Missouri would be the 11th state where left-lane driving is restricted to passing and turning.
