KANSAS CITY, Mo. – As we embark on another Independence Day, an animal shelter is asking for the public’s help in giving freedom to local pets by granting them a forever home.
Kansas City Pet Project is celebrating all things “Red, White and WOOF” Wednesday, July 4 by running a special promotion from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All cats and dogs including small breeds, puppies and kittens will be available for $25, one day only.
All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and microchip. Pampered Paws Grooming will be on-site to offer grooming tips to new adopters and Roberts Dairy is providing free ice cream to the first 200 visitors.
Through its first six months in operation, the KC Pet Project has saved more than 83% of the dogs and cats that have entered the shelter. This is an increase from the 65% average save rate over the past two years.
This save rate was achieved through increased positive outcomes for pets entering the shelter. From January 1st to June 30th, the KC Pet Project adopted out 1214 dogs and cats, reunited 471 with their owners, and transferred another 916 to other shelters and rescue groups, creating a total of 2,601 positive outcomes for pets at the shelter. The success has come while the shelter has seen a 26% increase in total intake – including a 50% increase in cats and an 18% increase in dogs.
The Kansas City Pet Project is located near the Stadiums at 4400 Raytown Road in Kansas City, Missouri.
