CALHOUN, Ky. — A 13-year-old Kentucky boy fighting for his life now has more than 276,000 facebook fans cheering him on through a facebook page called “Prayers for Lane Goodwin.
Lane also happens to love the St. Louis Cardinals, and has since he was a little boy, according to his mom. His parents don’t know why he picked the Cardinals; neither of them were big fans and Lane doesn’t follow any other team the way he does the Cardinals.
Lane’s condition is grave, but he continues to perk up over the Cardinal team. He has been fighting a rare cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma since March 2010. The cancer has spread to Lane’s brain and three weeks ago he began having seizures that nearly killed him.
Even after all that, his mom says Lane still says, “I got this. I got this.”
Cardinals fans heard about his fight on facebook and many showed up at Monday’s game with signs of support for Lane.
