INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — A suspect is in custody following an early-morning shooting at an Independence bar that sent three people—including the suspect—to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred at Alibi’s Bar at 305 N. 291 Highway shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. Police say that a suspect shot and wounded two people inside the bar with a handgun before apparently accidentally shooting himself.
Police say that other bar patrons held the suspect, who was still in possession of the weapon, until officers arrived on the scene. The suspect and two victims were taken to local hospitals, where their conditions are not known.
The identity of the suspect and victims have not yet been released, and there is no word of formal charges being filed in the case.
Police say that the investigation is ongoing.
