KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police say they know who has robbed at least three convenience stores in South Kansas City, and on Thursday night reported he’s been caught. Kevin Lund, 32, was taken into custody at about 7:45 p.m. at a local hotel after spending most of the month evading authorities.

On September 18 prosecutors charged Lund with three counts of burglary in the second degree and three counts of stealing. According to court records, Kansas City Police detectives recognized Lund from surveillance videos.

The charges against him are related to a convenience store theft on Sept. 8, another on Sept. 11 and then again on Sept. 12.

In the first incident, the manager of the convenience store on State Line Road determined that about 25 cartons of cigarettes were missing and the rear, glass door had been broken. Surveillance video showed a white, Dodge truck in the rear lot of the business and two men covering their faces.

On Sept. 11, the alarm went off at Discount Smokes and Liquor. Cologne and rolling papers were stolen from it. Surveillance video showed a dark-colored, smaller sized SUV and two white males.

On Sept. 12, an intrusion alarm sounded at Flemings Convenience Store, the same store that was robbed on Sept 8, and once again, cartons of cigarettes were missing. When they looked at the surveillance video, police saw the same white Dodge truck.

Prosecutors requested his bond be set at $50,000, online records indicate he’s in the custody of the Kansas City Police Department.
