WASHINGTON D.C. — The 2016 Republic National Convention site selection delegation announced Thursday that it has eliminated two more cities from its list of finalists for the Republican National Convention.
Kansas City made the cut and is still on the list, along with Cleveland, Denver and Dallas.

That means Cincinnati and Las Vegas are no longer being considered.
The full delegation is now expected to visit Kansas City, Denver, Dallas and Cleveland between June 2 and June 13.
After that, the timeline includes further eliminations in the summer, with initial negotiations beginning with final city or cities.
In late summer or early fall, the final convention city will be voted on by the full Republican National Convention governing body.
In its release Thursday afternoon the selection delegation explained:
“Prior to the site selection committee vote, Cincinnati respectfully withdrew their bid from the process based upon the criteria set forth by the RNC for the main arena. Las Vegas also respectfully withdrew their 2016 bid based on the RNC’s criteria for a traditional arena facility and enough on-site preparatory time to accommodate the 2016 convention.”
Before Las Vegas and Cincinnati were eliminated, Phoenix and Columbus, Ohio were also removed from consideration.
