PORTLAND — A Portland man got the gift of a new car from his daughter after she won a bid on online auction site eBay.com. The problem, however, is Paul Stoute’s daughter is just one years old.

Sorella Stoute bought the car, unintentionally, using the eBay app on her father’s smartphone.

“Tap, tap, tap and now I own a car,” Paul Stoute told KPTV.

The baby bidder ended up buying a 1962 Austin-Healey Sprite for $225.

“Fortunately, she didn’t buy the $38,000 Porsche,” Stoute joked to the station.

There is a cool ending to this story. Stoute said he plans to keep the car and fix it up and present it to his daughter on her 16th birthday.

In the meantime, the Stoutes say they have added passwords to their phones and uninstalled apps that allow users to make purchases.
