Twin babies are born almost one month apart as part of rare delivery

BOSTON, Mass. – Doctors recently performed a rare delivery in order to save a set of twins, who as a result ended up being born nearly a month apart.

According to WCVB at just 24 weeks the mother of the twins, Linda Dasilva, went into labor and prematurely gave birth to Alexandre, the first born of the twins who was immediately placed in intensive care. The second baby, Ronaldo, was born 24 days later after doctors told Dasilva that he needed stay inside the womb, giving him a better chance of survival.

Medical professionals call the births a “delayed twin delivery” and said Dasilva served as a perfect candidate.

Both babies are said to be doing well.
