Two shot, one killed in Kansas City, Kan.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — One man died and another was injured following an early morning shooting Monday in Kansas City, Kan.

According to police, two male shooting victims arrived at the University of Kansas Medical Center just after 4 a.m. One was pronounced dead, the other was listed in critical condition. The surviving victim told police the shooting occurred near I-70 and I-635. Officers checked out that location, but did not find a crime scene.

“Although it’s early on in the investigation,” said Officer Thomas Tomasic, “this shooting has nothing to do with the recent highway shootings on the Missouri side.”

The surviving victim’s injuries are not considered life threatening. Police are waiting for him to give them more details once he is able to be interviewed.  Police had issues getting initial information because of a language barrier, as both male victims are Hispanic.

Police do not believe the shooting was random.

Police are notifying the victim’s family at this time.
