LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — Police in Colorado are tracking a man suspected of stealing an SUV with a 4-year-old child inside.
The sport utility vehicle was reported stolen Wednesday morning from a gas station.
Denver television helicopters soon spotted a vehicle matching that description speeding along Interstate 25. After about a half hour, the driver stopped and carjacked another car and took off in a minivan, heading the wrong way on the highway.
Police threw stop sticks on the highway but they failed to stop him. The suspect then carjacked two other people before crashing into another vehicle. He then took off running through a business parking lot. After a short foot chase, police cornered him and the suspect dropped to the ground beside a fence and surrendered. Read more from KDVR.com.
