Bumgarner gets a Hosmer ground out and it’s all over for the World Series out west, the Giants grab a 3-2 series lead on the strength of Bumgarner’s left arm and some timely hitting. KC needs to win both games 6 and 7 at Kauffman Stadium to win the World Series.
Cain grounds out to short, Hosmer represents Royals last hope to extend the game.
Gordon flies out to Pence for the first out of the ninth, and the Royals are down to their final two outs. Cain up to the plate.
Davis strikes out Blanco to end a disaster of an eighth inning that sees the Giants score three times to extend the lead to 5-0.
Bumgarner takes his at-bat, ensuring he’ll be out in the ninth, but strikes out for the second out of the inning.
Rough inning continues to slide down hill with Crawford collecting his third RBI of the night on a blooper down the left field line. Giants lead 5-0.
Score is now 4-0, Giants lead, that may prompt Bumgarner to come out for the complete game in the ninth.
Juan Perez with a dagger shot off the top of the wall in center field that clears the bases and ends with him on third. Perez was 1-18 with runners in scoring position before that at bat this year.
Davis strikes out Belt on a 3-2 pitch for the first out of the inning. Belt disagreed, but the pitch did hit the outside corner.
Wade Davis will relieve Herrera, who inherits a situation with two Giants on and nobody out in the eighth.
Sandoval and Pence hit back-to-back singles off Herrera to start the bottom of the 8th, Giants looking for insurance up 2-0.
Escobar gets a good pitch to hit, but can’t do anything with it and flies out to center to end the inning.
Jayson Nix swings away on a 3-1 count, gets under the pitch and pops it up to left for the out. Strike zone plot shows the pitch nipped the top of the zone, but Nix may have better served to watch it.
Billy Butler gets his first at bat since game 2, but strikes out on three pitches. Jayson Nix up to bat for the Royals.
Hererra works around a walk to Panik and gets a double play ball from Posey, ending the Giants threat in the 8th
Final line on Shields is a good one: 6 innings pitched, 8 hits, 2 runs (both earned) 4 strikeouts against 1 walk. 94 pitches, 61 for strikes.
Herrera on to pitch for the Royals in the seventh.
Lots of griping on social media about Joe Buck’s adoration of Madison Bumgarner, but the results don’t lie. He’s thrown 95 pitches tonight, 69 for strikes and only allowed four hits. This is his fourth career start in the World Series, he’s gone at least 7 innings in all of them. The only run he’s ever given up in the WS was Perez’s home run in game 1, a game that was out of hand, 7-0 when Perez sent the ball into the Royals’ bullpen.
Infante just barely misses beating out a ground ball to third, thrown out by a step and the Royals are turned away again by Bumgarner. Seventh inning stretch in San Francisco.
Moustakas skies out to center, and it’s up to Infante to preserve the inning with two away.
Perez hits a shot to the warning track in left, narrowly missing extra bases and perhaps tying the game, but gets nothing as Juan Perez catches it for the out.
Hosmer hits a leadoff single to right, and the Royals have the tying run up in the form of Salvador Perez. He homered off of Bumgarner in game 1.
Shields gets Crawford to bounce out and Bumgarner to pop out and the Giants are done in the sixth. Headed into the seventh, KC still seeking offense down 2-0.
Shields gets Belt to fly out, but yields a single to Ishikawa. Bullpen is warming with Crawford at the plate, who has driven in both San Francisco run.

Royals need a bit of luck against Bumgarner, none to be found in Escobar’s last at bat as a foul pop up stays in play and Posey makes the catch for the first out of the inning.
Cain saves two runs with a magnificent running catch in the right center alley. Pence robbed of extra bases, Royals still in striking distance thanks to more spectacular defense from #6.
