Woman calls police after she feels threatened by car on 71 Hwy

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police took a report from a woman they described as ‘extremely distraught’ after she says a driver may have pointed a gun at her in the area of Red Bridge Road and 71 Highway.

The woman says it happened on Monday at about 1:30 p.m. She was driving northbound on 71 Highway and was attempting to take the I-470 eastbound exit.

She said a car pulled up next to her and the first time she glanced over at the driver, she says the passenger waved. A short time later she glanced over again and the passenger mouthed what she thought were the words “POW” or “BOOM”.

The woman says she hunched down and accelerated and took the I-70 eastbound ramp, while the other car took the exit ramp onto I-435 westbound.

The woman did not have a good description of the car, driver or whether she saw a gun.

The officer who responded said the woman seemed extremely concerned the suspects could be involved with the recent highway shootings in the area.
