Family of Woman Injured in I-35 Wreck Releases Pic of New Baby Girl

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The family of a pregnant Kansas woman who was seriously injured after her vehicle collided with a semi on I-35 near Gardner has released a photo of their new baby girl.

Nikki McClure, 33, collided with the truck on I-35 near 175th Street on the morning of February 8th.  She was rushed to the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in serious condition, and delivered the healthy baby girl earlier this week.

According to the hospital, McClure is still in serious condition, but has been moved out of the ICU. The baby girl, whose name has not been released, is still in the hospital.

McClure’s husband, Matt McClure, released the following statement on Thursday:

“Our family has truly felt the love and prayers during this difficult time. The support from our family, friends and this community have helped us get through trying times and we are grateful for this.  Nikki is in serious condition and our daughter remains in NICU.  Both continue to improve daily. Thank you again for your love and support. ”

The driver of the truck left the scene and accident investigators speculated that the truck driver did not feel the impact and did not realize he’d been hit. The truck was found in Iowa.
