KU’s Wiggins, Mizzou’s Clarkson included on Wooden Award top 25 list

LOS ANGELES — Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins is on the John Wooden Award midseason top 25 List, which was announced on Wednesday. Wiggins leads KU with a 15.2 scoring average, which also leads the Big 12 freshman class and is 10th overall in the conference.

Fellow KU freshman Joel Embiid is not included on the list. However, players not chosen to the midseason list are still eligible for the final ballot of 15 players.

The Los Angeles Athletic Club also named Missouri’s Jordan Clarkson to the list. The junior transfer from the University of Tulsa has emerged as one of the Tigers most important players this season. He’s averaging 18.7 points per game, which is best fifth-best in the SEC, and has also distributed 3.4 assists per game.

Other top 25 headliners include Wichita State’s Cleanthony Early, Creighton’s Doug McDermott, Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart and standout freshmen Jabari Parker from Duke and Julius Randle from Kentucky.
