Wichita State (34-0) is the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region. The Shockers will get the winner of a play-in game between Cal Poly (13-19) vs. Texas Southern (19-14) Friday at the Scottrade Center. If the Shockers win Friday, they will run into either K-State or Kentucky.
The Wildcats (20-12) are the No. 9 in the Midwest. They open against No. 8 Kentucky (24-10) on Friday.
The Kansas Jayhawks (24-9) are also on their way to St. Louis as the No.2 seed in the South Region. KU opens against No. 15 Eastern Kentucky (24-9) Friday. The Jayhawks’ third round match-up would be against either No. 7 New Mexico (27-6) or No. 10 Stanford (21-12). KU beat New Mexico 80-63 in December at Sprint Center.
The Missouri Tigers were left out of the NCAA Tournament. They are expected to accept a spot in the NIT.
