KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Iowa State fans celebrated Saturday night at The Power and Light District after winning the Big 12 Championship game against the University of Kansas 70-66.
“I’m sad, I am really sad, but it was a great game so at least it was fun to watch,” said Spencer Bold, a KU fan. “I met some cool Iowa State people who were really polite, really nice people; it was fun to watch with them.”
Many KU fans said the Iowa State fans were friendly and the rivalry stayed peaceful and fun.
“We sat right next to an Iowa State guy and he was just it good banter back and forth,” said Michelle Kelly, a KU fan.
Iowa State fans Frankee and Jim Oleson said they hope the Big 12 Tournament stays in Kansas City for years to come.
“It has this wonderful arena, it has all of the fun around the arena and lots of great shopping and restaurants,” Frankee Oleson said. “Kansas City really seems to love having it and you can tell that.”
