COLUMBIA, Mo. — The move to the Southeastern Conference means that tickets to the University of Missouri’s home football games have become a hot, and pricey, commodity.
According to a report in the Kansas City Business Journal, average ticket prices to Tiger home games have nearly doubled since last season to $136 each. During the school’s last year with the Big 12, tickets averaged around $70 a piece on the secondary market.
Tickets to the team’s September 8th SEC opener against Georgia are fetching an average of $189 on the secondary market, the Business Journal reports, almost $100 more than the Tigers 2011 home opener against Iowa State.
Tickets to Mizzou’s October 13th game against Alabama are fetching $240 each on the secondary market – the highest price for a single-game ticket at Faurot Field in the past four years.
Mizzou starts their 2012 football season on September 1 against Southern Louisiana.
