LAWRENCE, Kan. — Former Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist will play his senior year for the Kansas Jayhawks.
Crist made the announcement Thursday via Twitter.
Kansas Head Coach Charlie Weis recruited Crist at Notre Dame and recruited him once again at Kansas. Crist was a five-star recruit out of high school and was ranked as the 2nd best quarterback prospect in the nation. He is a recent graduate of Notre Dame, but still has one year of eligibility left. Knee injuries kept him sidelined during much of his career. Over his 10 starts for the Irish, he compiled a 4-6 record and passed for over 2,300 yards, 16 TD’s and 9 INT’s.
Highly touted quarterbacks are a rarity at KU, and Crist is most certainly that. His decision on where to play came down to Kansas or Big Ten regular season champion Wisconsin. On Wednesday night, Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst was announced at Pittsburgh’s new head coach. Crist made his announcement public Thursday.
