Royals fan gets 15 stitches after being struck by Billy Butler’s ball

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One Royals fan is sporting her World Series souvenir for everyone to see, after being struck in the head during Game Six.

Laura Stroud had great seats for Tuesday night’s game; at least she thought so until the sixth inning. That’s when someone in her section missed a foul ball hit by Billy Butler. The ball instead hit her in the head, and she ended up with 15 stitches.

“Well I knew I got hit ‘cause I felt it but it didn’t knock me out. I turned to my husband and he goes ‘did you get hit?’ and I said ‘I think so’ and I had blood gushing down my face,” she said.

Despite the injury, Stroud was back at Kauffman Wednesday night for Game Seven. The Royals made sure she and her husband had the opportunity to buy tickets at face value for the big game.

The team also gave her a baseball signed by Billy Butler.
