Three MU Football Players Arrested on Pot Charges

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Freshman University of Missouri wide receivers Dorial Green-Beckham and Levi Copelin and freshman linebacker Torey Boozer face drug possession charges after being arrested near Memorial Stadium on Wednesday night.

The three will be suspended from the football program for one game, said MU football spokesman Chad Moller in a statement on Thursday. He added that there will be no further comment, and any further disciplinary measures will be handled internally.

According to MU Maneater, the trio was arrested shortly before midnight on charges of possessing 35 grams or less of marijuana. MU police say that the three were found in an SUV in a parking lot just south of the stadium.

“The officer noticed the individuals sitting in a car and went up and made contact,” MU Police Department spokesman Brian Weimer told The Maneater. “The officer observed the odor of marijuana. Through the investigation, the officer made the arrest of three individuals.”

Green-Beckham scored his first college touchdown — an 80-yard pass play — last Saturday in the Tigers’ 21-16 victory over Central Florida.
