KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Sometimes ‘Schmidt happens.’ Other times something awesome happens that takes you by surprise and brings out the dork in you.
The latter happened to me on Tuesday when Lamorne Morris, co-star of FOX’s hit show New Girl (and my favorite show ever) came to FOX 4 to promote the New Girl True American Bus Tour. The bus, I’m told, is the bus Jess borrowed for Schmidt’s birthday — assuming you know the characters.
If you don’t, let me introduce you — now that Lamorne Morris and I are BFFs. Ahem:

Morris plays Winston, a former point guard for the Latvian Basketball League, who returns to the states after realizing he’ll never go pro. He stars alongside the adorkable Zooey Deschanel, turtle-faced Jake Johnson and Max Greenfield (catchphrase Schmidt Happens, anyone?).
From the get-go the show has done well, especially in Kansas City. And fans can look forward to its second season beginning Tuesday, September 25, at 7 p.m. on FOX 4. But for now, fans have the unique opportunity to ham it up with Morris at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday. Morris will be on board the New Girl bus, which he assures me he did not drive, nor can fans get behind the wheel. Sorry.
Fans, however, will be able to create their own New Girl T-shirts with logos and catchphrases from the show. They’ll also be able to snag a grab bag full of New Girl goodies that include Jess’s signature black glasses. Fans and their friends can also reenact the show’s opening theme song in a one-of-a-kind photo which they can share on their social media sites.
Morris, a Chicago native, said this is his first time in Kansas City and said it feels much like home — although slightly more green. And he’s already picked up KC lingo, referring to Kauffman Stadium as “The K.” Whether he will indulge in some of our famous barbecue is yet to be determined.
Morris and the True American New Girl Bus Tour will be out at Kauffman from Noon until 8 p.m. on Tuesday in Lot H. Fans can rub elbows with one of their favorite New Girl stars for FREE.
