LAWRENCE, Kan. — A Lawrence woman faces an involuntary manslaughter charge in connection to the April death of a child who swallowed opiates while in her care.

Rebecca Wynne, 25, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and two counts of child endangerment in connection to the April 27, 2012, death of a five-year-old child, who according to an autopsy report died after swallowing opiates.

Two other children, ages four and six, were taken into protective custody.

The charges do not include any specifics in the case, including Wynne’s relationship to the children or how the child died.

According to authorities, Wynne remains in the Douglas County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
