KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The father of the 4-year-old boy shot in the stomach after a rolling gun fight over the weekend said he wants those responsible caught.
Police said Wednesday they are now looking for a person of interest, who might have information about this case.
Markel Hall Sr. said his son is getting better each day at a local hospital. He said his son is not only talking now, but walking.
Markel Hall Jr. was shot in the stomach outside of their home near 17th Street and Stewart Avenue when people in two cars exchanged gunfire near the home.
The victim’s father said family friend Scott Henley was getting his son out of a tree, when a stray bullet struck Henley’s hand, and then penetrated his son’s stomach.
Hall Sr. said his friend likely saved his son’s life because he slowed the force of the bullet. Now he said he wants those responsible in jail.
“It’s crazy. People don’t have anything else to do with their time. They need to find themselves a hobby,” Hall Sr. said.
Police towed a car away that night they said they believed was involved. They also released a picture of a silver or blue Chrysler 300 they said might have been struck by bullets.
The family said Markel will be in the hospital until at least Saturday
