LIBERTY, Mo. — If you don’t recognize the name “Flintlock Flyover” then you likely aren’t a Liberty resident or drive often in the Northland.

Because without a doubt, drivers who use I-35 know the Flintlock Flyover and the hassle it will spare them once it is built.

The Flintlock Flyover is an overpass that will reduce traffic on Highway 152 near I- 35 by connecting North East Flintlock and Liberty Drive.

On Thursday, the cities of Liberty and Kansas City held a ground breaking at South Valley Middle School to launch the construction which will officially begin on Monday.

“Folks in Liberty have been very interested in this project for a long time. This has been a high priority. We have 5,000 school kids who will be using this flyover every single day and that’s a big deal,” Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo. said.
