OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Officials in Overland Park will be holding a public hearing on Monday evening over $100 million in tax credits for the proposed Prairiefire development.

Developers say that the Prairie Fire project, set to be located along 135th Street between Lamar and Nall, is expected to attract visitors from a 300-mile radius. The project is set to include major retailers like REI, the Fresh Market, Pin Stripes (a bowling alley and Italian restaurant) and Cinetopia – a 21-screen movie theater.

The primary tenant of the development would be the American Museum of Natural History, with a museum space that will showcase traveling exhibits from the larger Natural History  Museum in New York.

The project also includes nearly 600 high-end apartment units.

The City Council is expected to vote on the tax incentives in November. Developers say that they can break ground as soon as December.
