KANSAS CITY, Mo. — If you’re putting off getting a flu shot or don’t plan to get one at all, here’s something to think about. New research shows the benefits of flu vaccination go well beyond preventing the achiness, fever and fatigue that come with the flu.

A Canadian study finds that getting a flu shot cuts in half your chances of a heart attack or stroke and death from one of those. Other research has shown a similar benefit.
