KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police in Kansas City were out Halloween night, not in search of candy, but in search of sex offenders breaking the “Lights Out” law.
Operation Lights Out requires registered sex offenders to turn off their exterior lights on Halloween night. In addition, they must be indoor by 5 p.m. and must post a sign that says “No Candy Here.”
Kansas City police knocked on some 200 doors to ensure those registered as sex offenders were not in contact with trick-or-treaters.
