Update: Kansas City police have identified the victim as 19-year-old Maxwell Hill. A police spokesman said detectives were following up with witnesses to obtain a description of the vehicle.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — KCMO Police are on the scene of the third homicide in the span of two-and-a-half hours on Sunday evening, August 9.
Just before 7:30 pm officers were dispatched to the Tony Aguirre Community Center in the 2000 block of West Pennway, where they found a shooting victim in his late teens or early 20’s laying in the parking lot. Paramedics took the victim to the hospital where he died a short time later.
Witnesses told police that they saw an interaction in the parking lot between the victim and an unknown suspect that led to a shooting. The suspect left the scene after the shooting.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and callers to hopefully get a description of the suspect’s vehicle.
Kansas City has now recorded 122 homicides for 2020.
