PITTSBURGH — Victory. Todd Haley didn’t see much of that when he coached the Kansas City Chiefs. Now the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Haley is hoping to topple the team he once led.
He may have a shot. Since his firing, the Chiefs have done anything but improve. With a 1-7 record this season, the Chiefs are currently considered the worst team in the NFL.
While Haley hasn’t publicly spoken about his quest to conquer the Chiefs, his players sense it.
““He wants to win every game, as we all do,” said Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger told reporters on Wednesday. “But without him saying it, you can see it … anytime you’ve got a guy on your team who used to play for another team, there’s always a little incentive that you want to win for that guy.”
The Chiefs have not led in regulation at all this season through eight games. The last NFL team to not lead in regulation in eight games was the Buffalo Bison in 1929. Chiefs will break that record unless they take a lead against the Steelers Monday night at Heinz Field.
