Hey, Webbies! Welcome to my blog here at fox4kc.com. I’ll (hopefully) be posting the stuff that catches my eye when it comes to technology — plus whatever else catches my eye in the world.

Let’s start with the App of the Week for this week, and it comes to us from the folks at Hy-Vee.  (Disclaimer: nope, this isn’t an ad for Hy-Vee.)  The supermarket chain recently launched its own app — and I’ve gotta say, it’s pretty useful.

The standard retail app features are there — “find the nearest store,” “see the weekly ad,” etc. What sets this app apart for me, though, is the item locator.

Let’s say you’re looking for taco shells.  With the product locator, you can type in — or even speak — the item you’re looking for.  Not only will the app tell you what aisle they’re on, but it will even give you a map that shows you where they are — and the quickest way to get in, get them, and get to the checkout.

The app also lets you make a grocery list, complete with pictures, and if an item is out of stock, it will Tweet that information to the store.

The app is free on the iTunes store (for iPhone/Pad/Pod), and coming soon for the Android.  Price Chopper, you’re up to bat.
