KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Missouri School District will be holding a town hall meeting on Wednesday night, and Kansas City mayor Sly James really wants to see you there.
James says that he’s prepared to take over the troubled school district, but it’s up to the community to decide if that is the best course of action. On Wednesday night, the district will hold the first of four public meetings to discuss the options.
The mayor says that the buck of failed education has been passed too many times, and whatever solution the community thinks is best is fine with him but a decision must be made, noting that poor education has implications for the city from a higher crime rate to unemployment.
The KCMOSD will lose its state accreditation on January 1.
Wednesday’s meeting will be held at the Manual Career and Technical Center on Truman Road at 6:00 p.m.
