KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Pet Project has begun a dishwasher fundraising drive. But, why a dishwasher?
Right now, volunteers have to hand wash every single bowl and water pail for more than 350 animals every day — plus toys.

A dishwasher would mean volunteers could spend more time interacting with the animals — plus health benefits.
“The water does get hotter than it would hand washing and it cuts down on infectious disease that could populate an entire shelter like ours and properly disinfects all the dishes,” Tori Fugate said.
KC Pet Project said the commercial dishwasher they want would also cut down on the amount of water used, helping reduce their water bill.
