LAWSON, Mo. — A rumor has spread since a Friday incident at Lawson schools saying the schools have been placed on lockdown. But none of it is true.

Superintendent Roger Schmitz told FOX 4 the rumor began after a threat between two students on Friday. The incident was “contained,” Schmitz said.

By Monday, the rumor had grown into something much more. And by Tuesday, rumors on social media added a gun was involved.

There was never a gun involved, the schools were never on lockdown and schools are operating normally, Schmitz said.

Schmitz said parents were sent an email Monday evening and were alerted about the Friday incident, and to hopefully squash the lockdown rumor.
