COLUMBIA, Mo. — The wins just keep piling up for the Missouri Tigers. Tuesday night it was a very convincing win over the Oklahoma Sooners in the Big 12 opener for both schools, with the Tigers winning 87-49.
The Tigers started quickly by jumping out to a 7-0 lead, as the Oklahoma defense was never able to get the Tigers out of any rhythm on offense. Missouri is now 14-0 and off to the second best start in school history, just five wins shy of a school record 19-0 start when Norm Stewart coached at Missouri during the 1981-82 season.
Four different Missouri players scored in double digits, including senior guard Kim English who led the way with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Kansas City native Marcus Denmon scored 20 points, hitting 4 of his 7 attempts from 3-point range. Oklahoma (10-3) was led by forward Andrew Fitzgerald who scored 18 off the bench.
Missouri next gets Kansas State on Saturday in Manhattan, in the second Big 12 game of the regular season for both schools.
