KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A daycare damaged in a fire that gutted a Westport church is back open for business.
Willow Woods Child Center reopened on Tuesday, just two weeks after a blaze virtually destroyed the Westport Presbyterian Church. The daycare center was spared serious damage, but school officials were forced to get rid of books, toys and other materials damaged by smoke and water.
Officials say that contractors cleaned up much of the smoke and water damage in the daycare, and employees have been working to put the classrooms back in order following the December 29 fire.
There is no word on when the church itself will be able to reopen, but rebuilding could take many months to finish.
